Q: Becoming a sponsor
A: Sponsoring a student gives you a chance to share a unique relationship with the student in another part of the world. As a sponsor, your regular contributions provide important benefits to a student living in poverty and enables him/her to go to school. Although you are under no obligation, we hope that your commitment will be a long-time engagement with the student you have chosen. Many sponsors have developed a very close and friendly relationship with their sponsored child. Once you have chosen a student, you can fill in the sponsorship application form and we will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm the sponsorship and to provide you with further information about the student and the sponsorship. Within 10 days, you will receive an email that will include photos of your sponsored student, information about his/her family and other information about how your sponsored student will benefit from the sponsorship. Within a couple of months you will receive a letter from your sponsored student introducing him/herself and his/her family; Twice a year you will receive a report card showing how your sponsored student's academic performance in school.
Q: How is my sponsored student going to benefit from my contribution?
A: The objective of our sponsorship program is the education of orphans and other needy/vulnerable children. Your sponsorship fee will cover the school fees, the school materials, the school uniform, and the daily feeding program at school. There are no administration fees since the programme is entirely run on a voluntary basis. However minor fees may occur for the money transfer to Uganda.
Q: How can I enter in contact with my sponsored student?
A: You can send cards and letters to your sponsored student to the school address that you find on the contact page. We will arrange that your sponsored student receives the letters. Since the Ugandan postal service is sometimes not very reliable, we would advise you to contact us if you haven't heard from us within 3 months of you sending your letter. Also, please allow between one to two months for a reply from your sponsored student.
Q: Can I send packages/gifts to my sponsored Student?
A: You can send packages to your sponsored student. If you need any specific information as for example the student's size, you always can contact us. Packages can be sent to the address provided under contact. Please make sure to write "donation" on your package to avoid the payment of taxes and fees.
Q: Can I visit my sponsored student?
A: Of course you can visit your sponsored student/family. It can be a very rewarding experience, for you and the sponsored student/family, to meet face-to-face. If you ever desire to do so, let us know and we will arrange your visit and give you general information on how you can get to our school.
Q: Can I send money directly to my sponsored student?
A: If you wish to send extra money or a gift to your sponsored student or family, we would advise you to send it through us as we will make sure they receive your gift. After your sponsored student/family has received the gift, we will take a picture of the student/family with your gift so you can see yourself how happy your gift has made her/him.
Q: How can I pay my contribution for the sponsorship?
A: Please contact us through our email address to get full information on how to transfer through your Bank.
Q: When will my sponsorship end?
A: A sponsorship is a voluntary commitment and you can end your sponsorship with the first day of each month. A reimbursement of already paid fees is not possible. However, we see the student sponsorship as a long lasting relationship between you and your sponsored student. Continuity is crucial for a successful school career and will avoid school drop out because of the lack of funding. Your sponsorship automatically ends when the student leaves our school or does not need any longer assistance. When this happens we will offer you the opportunity to sponsor another student or family. We are confident that after you have seen how your contribution has changed the life of the student or family you have sponsored you will want to enjoy this experience again, the experience of joy for helping a needy child/student or family become strong, self-reliant and happier thanks to your generous contribution. A sponsorship ends automatically when a sponsor does not pay the fee during three months. The sponsor will be notified before.
